Black Forest Cake

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 can condensed milk
  2. 1 teaspoon baking powder
  3. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  4. 125 grams Dinesh Flour Mills maida (about 9 tablespoons)
  5. 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  6. 1 teaspoon drinking chocolate powder
  7. 1/4 cup golden syrup
  8. 60ml white butter or oil (about 4 tablespoons)
  9. 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  10. 5-7 tablespoons Golden syrup.
  11. Butter for greasing the cake tin
  12. Cherry or raspberry jam for layering (optional)
  13. Whipped cream for frosting
  14. Chocolate shavings or sprinkles for decoration (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a round cake tin with butter and line the bottom with parchment paper.

  2. In a mixing bowl, sift together Dinesh Flour Mills maida, cocoa powder, drinking chocolate powder, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the leavening agents.

  3. In another bowl, combine the condensed milk, golden syrup, white butter or oil, and vanilla essence. Mix until well combined.

  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients while stirring continuously. Add 5-7 tablespoons of water to the batter to achieve a smooth and pourable consistency. Mix until there are no lumps and the batter is smooth.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin and smooth the top with a spatula.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

  7. Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the tin for 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  8. Golden Syrup: While the cake is cooling, prepare the golden syrup by boiling 1 tablespoon of sugar with 1/4 cup of water until the sugar is completely dissolved. Let it cool before using.

  9. Once the cake has cooled, carefully slice it horizontally into two equal layers using a serrated knife.

  10. Place one layer of the cake on a serving plate or cake stand. If desired, spread a thin layer of cherry or raspberry jam on top of the cake layer.

  11. Using a pastry brush, generously brush the top of the cake layer with the prepared golden syrup to keep it moist.

  12. Spread a layer of whipped cream over the moistened cake layer.

  13. Place the second cake layer on top and repeat the process of brushing with golden syrup and spreading whipped cream.

  14. Cover the top and sides of the cake with whipped cream, using a spatula to create smooth edges.

  15. Decorate the cake with chocolate shavings or sprinkles, and optionally, top with fresh cherries or raspberries.

  16. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.

  17. Once chilled, slice and serve your delicious homemade Black Forest Cake!

Enjoy your decadent treat made with Dinesh Flour Mills Maida!
