Happy Teachers Day
Teachers Day is celebrated on 5th of September every year in India. It happens to be the birth anniversary of the country’s former President, Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. Apart from holding the position of the nation’s most loved and respected president, he was also a teacher in many reputed universities. He adored children and children too loved him back. The day is celebrated as Teachers Day in India because once a group of students he taught requested him to allow them to celebrate his birthday throughout the country in 1962. He instead suggested them to mark his birthday as teachers day.
What is the importance of celebrating teachers day?
Teachers are the backbone of a country’s growth. They shape the students of today to make them valuable citizens of tomorrow. There are many reasons why this day exists:
-You can express gratitude: Teachers work painstakingly throughout the year. They encourage their students to become all-round sound citizens. On this day, the students can express gratitude to their teachers for all that they do for them.
-It is a day to pay respect: Teachers are the mentors and role models in the lives of students. They act as a guiding light that continuously show the students the right direction in their life. Students should pay respect to their teachers’ hard work and mentorship on this day.
-Helps strengthen the bond between students and teachers: It is a day when students appreciate their teachers, by taking up their duties. Senior students impersonate their teachers and go teach students of younger classes so teachers can relax for a day. This helps grow the bond between students and teachers.
