How to cook Millets ?
Millet is a nutritious and versatile grain that can be cooked in a variety of ways. Here is a simple recipe for cooking millet:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup millet
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
Instructions:
- Rinse the millet in a fine mesh strainer and remove any debris.
- In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
- Add the rinsed millet to the boiling water and stir.
- Reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with a lid.
- Cook the millet for 20-25 minutes, or until the water has been absorbed and the grains are tender.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit covered for 5-10 minutes.
- Fluff the millet with a fork and serve.
Optional: To add more flavor to the millet, you can toast it before cooking. To do this, heat a dry skillet over medium heat and add the rinsed millet. Cook, stirring frequently, until the millet is lightly browned and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes. Then, add the toasted millet to the boiling water and continue with step 3 above.

- Salt to taste
- Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped (optional)
