How To Prepare Millets Dosa : 

Millets dosa is a healthy and delicious breakfast or snack option that is easy to prepare. Here's a simple recipe for millets dosa:


  • 1 cup mixed millets (such as foxtail, little, barnyard , etc)
  • 1/2 cup urad dal (split black gram)
  • 1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required
  • Oil for cooking


  1. Rinse the millets and urad dal separately, and soak them in enough water for 4-5 hours or overnight. Also, soak the fenugreek seeds along with the urad dal.

  2. Drain the water from both the millets and urad dal-fenugreek mixture, and rinse them again.

  3. In a blender, grind the millets to a smooth batter, adding water as required. Transfer the batter to a mixing bowl.

  4. Grind the urad dal and fenugreek seeds to a smooth and fluffy batter, adding water as required. Add this batter to the mixing bowl with the millet batter.

  5. Mix the two batters well, adding salt to taste. Cover the bowl and let the batter ferment for 6-8 hours or overnight.

  6. Heat a non-stick or cast-iron dosa tawa on medium heat. Once the tawa is hot, pour a ladleful of the batter on the center of the tawa and spread it in a circular motion to make a thin dosa.

  7. Drizzle a little oil around the edges of the dosa, and let it cook for 1-2 minutes or until the edges start to turn golden brown.

  8. Flip the dosa using a spatula and cook for another 1-2 minutes or until the other side is also golden brown.

  9. Serve hot with chutney or sambar.
