Add onion, tomato, coriander, green chilli, cumin, turmeric and salt. Gradually pour in water while whisking to prepare a smooth batter. Rest the batter for 5 minutes. Heat a tawa and lightly grease its surface. Pour one ladleful of batter onto the tawa. Spread it gently into a medium-sized circle. Drizzle a little oil or ghee around the edges. Cook until the underside is firm and lightly browned. Turn and cook the other side. Serve hot with green chutney, tomato chutney or curd. Useful Tips Keep the batter slightly thinner than regular pancake batter. Add water if the batter thickens while resting. Spread the cheela gently to prevent it from breaking.
